TOURNAMENT RULES

Administration Rules
1. Management of the Competition
-
The competition shall be called Kids Champions Cup.
-
Officials on the day are Gareth Rafferty, Joe Nicholson and Steven Jones.
-
Any alterations to these rules will be made by the competition organisers.
-
The competition will be governed according to the rules and regulations of the FA.
-
All managers will receive a copy of these rules and regulations.
2. Affiliation of participating teams
-
All teams must be affiliated to a County Association upon entering the competition.
3. Entry Fees
-
All teams must have prepaid to secure their place in the tournament.
4. Committee and Powers
-
Event officials will be organising the tournament. The officials have the power to apply, act upon and enforce the rules of the competition. Officials also have jurisdiction over all matters affecting the competition, including any not accounted for by these rules.
5. Players Qualification
-
Separate competitions are organised for all specific age groups, Under 7- Under 14.
-
All managers must submit registration forms provided by us on the day detailing names and dates of births of players in the competition.
-
No academy players already signed from Under 9s upwards will be permitted to play in the competition.
-
All players registered to play in the competition must have proof of identification should any clarifications be needed.
6. Arrangement of Competition
-
All teams in their age group will be arranged into groups and play each team in their group once.
-
All teams will receive medals.
-
Winning teams of the competition will receive a team trophy.
7. Group Stages and knockouts
-
5v5 and 7v7 - 15 minute games (1hr game time)
-
9v9 and 11v11 - 12 minute games (1hr game time)
-
5V5 and 7V7 (12 minute games)

8. Reporting of Results
-
The results from each match will be taken to the fixture tent by the referee and/or winning manager. In the event of a tie, the referee may ask either team to take the result.
9. Winning Tournament Teams and Trophies
-
Winning teams will be presented with a team trophy on the winner’s podium.

All participating players will receive a medal each
10. General Terms
-
The rules of the tournament are binding for all competing teams.
-
Tournament organisers will allocate referees for all games. Any decision made by said referee relating to the laws of the game and this competition will be final.
-
Any other disputes will be considered on the day by the tournament organiser and their decision will be final.
-
This tournament is based on 2023/24 age groups.
-
If any player is found playing in an age group younger than their age, their team will be disqualified from the competition.
-
Players may be substituted at any stoppage in play using the roll on/roll off system. However, permission must be taken from the match referee before any substitution can be made.
-
Scores and league tables will be managed in the fixture tent.
-
Any player that is cautioned twice or sent off throughout the competition will
have no further place in the tournament.

Any team being penalised for behaviour during the tournament will be expelled. This includes players, team managers and parents.
11. Game Layout and Squad Size
-
UNDER 7s and UNDER 8s will play 5v5 with a recommended maximum squad size of 8 players.
-
UNDER 9s and UNDER 10s will play 7v7 with a recommended maximum squad size of 10 players.
-
UNDER 11s and UNDER 12s will play 9v9 with a recommended maximum squad size of 13 players.
-
UNDER 13s and UNDER 14s will play 11v11 with a recommended maximum squad size of 15 players.

5v5 GAMES - 15 minutes each game - Size 3 Match Ball

7v7 GAMES - 15 minutes each game - Size 3 Match Ball

9v9 GAMES - 12 minutes each game - Size 4 Match Ball

11v11 GAMES - 12 minutes each game – Size 4 Match Ball
In Semi/Final games, if the game ends in a draw after normal time, 3x penalties will be taken before progressing to sudden death.
12. Match Rules
Start and Restart of Play
A kick-off is taken at the centre of the playing field at the start of the game and after goals
have been scored. Opponents must be 5 yards away from the ball and in their own half.
Fouls and Misconduct
Normal rules apply, as per the Laws of Association Football.
Free Kicks
For all free kicks, opponents must be 5 - 10 yards away from the ball (Relevant to age
format).
Penalty Kicks
Normal rules apply, as per the Laws of Association Football.
Throw ins
Normal rules apply, as per the Laws of Association Football.
Goal Kicks
Normal rules apply, as per the Laws of Association Football.
Under 7’s, Under 8’s, Under 9’s and Under 10’s must abide by the retreat rule. Opponents must retreat to their own half until the ball is in play. The team in possession does not have to wait for the opposition to retreat.
Corner Kicks
Normal rules apply, as per the Laws of Association Football.
Penalty Area
